It's not hard to see why this thing hasn't been released in America. Showing a guy masturbating to climax, the Indian girl having to do something else, the three and so on. The hardcore sex scenes are all made erotic so there's isn't any ugliness to them, which was the case in Kids but that film was going for something else. Why Clark shows us everything he does here is something I really don't understand. I found a few scenes laughable when I guess they were trying to be dramatic. The movie kept me entertained throughout, probably because this just isn't the type of thing we're use to seeing. Clark has been called pretty much everything but the word pervert keeps being used and I'm really curious what his motives are being such films as this. The film follows a day in the life of several teenagers through being molested by their fathers, to sleeping with their girlfriends mothers to being raped, suicide, murder and pretty much everything else that involves sex or murder. I found this scene to be powerful and heart wrenchingly done.Ken Park (2002) *** (out of 4) If Larry Clark's Kids was a wakeup call to parents then I don't know what the hell this is. When the son awakes he kicks the dad off the bed against the wall and the dad a tearful mess mutters "nobody loves me". Then one night he comes home drunk and attempts to pop his sons cock into his mouth while his son is sleeping. The father son scene being heart wrenching because through out the movie we see this hard nosed prick dad belittle and bully his son. The movie also has that car wreck rubber neck feel to it where its so bad (content sense not quality) you can't look away.

The film is engrossing because the characters, while not very fleshed out are very interesting. The films too edgy for it's on good in the sense that it felt like each scene was trying to top the next in the "ooh my" category. I feel the nihilism is over done because the chances of these stories all taking place in the same community is minute.

When I say the film is overly nihilistic I speak to the scenarios all taking place in the same community each one being more godless and disgusting then the next.
